Business Development Engineer - Intern

General Purpose of Position:
The Business Development Engineer Intern bridges the gap between engineering and business, focusing on identifying new business opportunities, driving innovation, and aligning engineering capabilities with strategic business goals.  This role will work with subject matter experts and be responsible for developing core technical proficiencies on the equipment, processes, and procedures for application of Aprecia’s proprietary three-dimensional printing (3DP) technology.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
 
  Duties/Responsibilities
1 Define and establish collaborative relationships with contacts that would represent likely stakeholders for this project scope.  These may include: prescribers, consumers (patients), pharmacists, manufacturers, distributors, policymakers, payers (e.g. insurance), etc.
2 Collect data pertaining to workflow, scope, and pain-points, in current pharmaceutical supply chain operations.
3 Identify opportunities for innovation within the pharmaceutical supply chain operations, with respect to personalized medicine and additive manufacturing.
4 Assist with clinical research and analysis as well as Regulatory research.
5 Prioritize remaining barriers and gaps in leading models and develop solutions.
6 Assist Engineering team in ongoing technology development brainstorming, concepting, and evaluation efforts, focused on commercial business cases and commercial technology requirements.
7 Assist Engineering team in providing technology development strategies, planning, and direction to cross functional teams.
8 Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams as required and present findings to department heads, project managers, and the wider development teams as required.
9 Other duties as assigned.

Position may require 10% travel

 Responsibilities for this role may be covered across multiple shifts

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Good organizational skills with a collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and motivated for completion of projects
  • A deep understanding of engineering principles and practices is essential
  • Statistical analysis and management of data experience preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite
Education and Experience:
  • Working towards a B.S. degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Math or a related discipline required
  • Manufacturing technology background, project management skillset, and 3rd and 4th year students with previous intern experience preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment:    
  • Good eyesight to read, interpret, and create technical materials
  • Good manual dexterity to operate computer and other general office equipment
  • Sitting at a desk or standing for extended periods of time
  • Occasional lifting of boxes (up to 25 pounds) containing engineering materials, manuals, tools, etc.
