Maintenance Supervisor

General Purpose of Position:
The Operations Engineering Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and scheduling the daily activities of the Facilities and Production Maintenance Technicians.  This position is responsible for making daily assignments for equipment repair and troubleshooting activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime.  Maintenance Supervisor will work directly with the Maintenance Coordinator to schedule monthly PM activities and ensure PMs are scheduled appropriately to reduce impact to manufacturing operations.  The Maintenance Supervisor will provide daily oversight of Facilities and Production Maintenance Technicians to ensure all relevant SOPs and Task List steps are followed and properly executed while ensuring adherence to Safety Operating Standards and cGMPs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
 
  Duties/Responsibilities
1 Provide daily oversight of the Maintenance Technicians during the execution of Preventive Maintenance Task Lists and troubleshooting activities.
2 Ensure proper execution of PM task list activities and non-routine work order execution.
3 Provide coaching and counseling, training/development, discipline, and recognition of Maintenance Technicians for proper execution of PM task lists and during equipment troubleshooting and repair activities.
4 Identify parts and materials required for upcoming PM activities and work with appropriate OE personnel to identify vendors to source required parts and materials.
5 Ensure Maintenance Technicians are properly trained in the execution of PM task lists and are aware of critical equipment care.
6 Identify required critical spare parts and monitor critical and spare parts inventory levels.  Work with appropriate OE personnel to source replacements.
7 Participate in the development and revision of PM task lists for new and existing equipment.
8 Ensure adherence to cGMPs, SOPs, and Safety Operating Standards during all equipment maintenance activities executed by Maintenance Technicians.
9 Participate in talent management, succession planning, and talent acquisition of Maintenance Technicians.
10 Provide interdepartmental communication for ongoing equipment repair and troubleshooting activities.  Work with Production Supervisor to ensure equipment is prepped for upcoming and ongoing production activities.
11 Work with equipment vendors, OEM, general contractors, and trades for coordinating, planning, and executing activities within the production and production support areas.
12 Other duties as assigned.

Facilities and Production Maintenance Technicians

Travel:
Position may require up to 10% travel

Work Shift:
Responsibilities for this role may be covered across multiple shifts and include weekends, holidays, evening, and 24-hour emergency on call.  This position consists of a 5 8-hour day week Monday – Friday.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated expertise with troubleshooting and repair of automated servo-controlled equipment and high-speed packaging and manufacturing equipment
  • Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of electrical, computer, servo, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
  • Must be able to read and comprehend mechanical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • 7-10 years of experience which includes programmable logic controllers (PLC), PC based systems, and hardwired relay logic systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and foster teamwork and team development
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and independently on tasks and projects
  • Excellent organizational skills and able to provide quality customer service

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Relevant licenses, certifications, or coursework related to training/experience from college or technical school preferred
  • 7-10 years of direct experience in production or facilities maintenance preferred
  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment is required

Physical Demands and Work Environment:    
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Ability to bend, lift, carry, and manipulate materials and machine parts (1-50 lbs)
  • Ability to work well with equipment manufacturers and distributors
  • Exposure to odd body positions (i.e. twisted torso, bent over position, etc. while performing work responsibilities
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) as required for exposure to pharmaceutical operations (e.g. respirators, over-gowning, gloves, steel toe shoes)
