Catering Coordinator

General Purpose of Position:
This position is responsible for maintaining and displaying Aprecia standards of service and showcase quality in regard to daily café lunches and events for food and beverage needs. Responsible for the daily operations as well as service of catering functions, while providing friendly and efficient service to guests and employees. Oversee the planning of menus as well as equipment, food, and service preparations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
 
  Duties/Responsibilities
1 Provide food service with a focus on the highest quality, impeccable service and added value to Aprecia’s reputation 
2 Coordinate and plan the weekly lunch menu in Aprecia Facilities and ensure accurate cost-effective pricing and quality customer service
3 Maintain the kitchenettes, conference rooms, and cafeteria for room accommodations daily with food and beverage needs.  Monitor stock and supplies and ordering replenishments
4 Be readily available during work functions for consultation and support
5 Track catering expenses and maintain monthly budget
6 Respond and resolve complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner
7 May work with outside vendors for booking special events or menus and to develop good working relationship, including meeting planner materials, prompt response to calls and requests
8 Communicate with HR Generalist per needs of work equipment, daily food preparation and concepts, and or schedule changes as needed
9 Oversee cleanliness and overall presentation of lunch and other event set up
11 Oversee table arrangements and seating if necessary, and the cleaning of table linens as needed

Reporting to this Position:
No direct reports

Travel:
 Ability to travel 50% of the time to stores as business needs require

This position works days

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Hands on experience with creating menus from scratch
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of catering and food and beverage needs and functions
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations
  • Must have exceptional mathematical skills
  • Shows intense and eager enjoyment and interest
  • Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing needs and remain calm under stressful circumstances
Education and Experience:
  • Accredited course in catering management preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in catering management, hospitality or similar required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in training catering staff and ability to coordinate catering requirements with customers, management, and suppliers a plus
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office
Physical Demands and Work Environment:    
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours if needed
  • Must be able to lift/push/reach for/carry 20+ pounds occasionally
  • Ability to move around the facility to assist with events and meetings in other areas of the building
  • Occasional odd body positions (bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, etc.) in the performance of position responsibilities
